This is Petzl's new descender, the Rig, a high-performance descender. It is a compact auto-locking device that greatly facilitates vertical activities. A modern descender, used for work at height, sports, or in rescue operations.

It features an automatic return system to limit risks in the event of involuntary action. It has a safety catch on the movable side plate, facilitating rope installation; A pivoting cam to more easily take up rope slack. It also allows a reversible force multiplication system and short ascents (by adding a FOOTPRO foot loop and an ASCENSION handled ascender). It works with single ropes from 10.5 to 11.5 mm in diameter.
